Jagex just dropped a teaser for a fourth RuneScape MMO, and it is in Unreal

Jagex released the first teaser for a fourth RuneScape MMO. It does not have a name yet and is still early in development. They are building it in Unreal Engine, and the stated goal is to bring Gielinor to a new set of players while keeping the depth and community focus the series has had for 25 years. There is no release window, no skill list, and no word on how it relates to Old School or RuneScape 3.

Graphics are fine. The question is whether the world stays big and slow, or they shrink it so it plays like every other action MMO. Flying mounts would kill it.

Most of what is on screen is already in Dragonwilds. Same town, same NPC faces. So yeah, that game looks like the prototype. Console would be the part that actually gets new people in.

The wait is the part that sucks. People have wanted a modern RuneScape that still feels like RuneScape for ages, so yeah this is hype, but it is obviously years off.
